Why control Flies?
Flies are widely recognised as carriers of disease-causing organisms, and their high mobility makes them particularly effective vectors. They acquire these pathogens whilst crawling or feeding on infected materials such as waste, and may then subsequently infect human food when they alight on it. This transfer may occur simply as the fly walks on the food, but will also take place as a result of the fly’s defecation and regurgitation.
The simple presence of numbers of flying insects may be an irritating nuisance to staff, customers. Clearly, the threshold at which many guests, customers, or the public become upset by insects is relatively low, and unhappy customers lead to complaints.
In any food production or sales environment, the local Environmental Health Department has a responsibility to enforce food safety and environmental health legislation. Typically EHOs will work with and advise businesses where potential insect issues are present. However as a last resort, and where advice has not been heeded, then legal action may be taken against offenders, potentially leading to more negative exposure for the business. This negative publicity can have a significant impact on the public’s and customers’ perception of the brand. This, in turn, is likely to affect the business itself.
Blow flies
Blow flies are so called because they were believed to “blow” their eggs, or larvae onto exposed meats. They all like sunlight and are attracted to meat or carrion, and all may be found around dustbins in hot summer weather.
House flies
House flies are one of the most common insects on the planet. They breed and feed in filth, including garbage, feces, and rotting or spoiled food. Poor sanitation and unsealed cracks in windows and doors can lead to house fly infestations. House flies are major carriers of disease. They are known to transfer over 100 pathogens resulting in ailments, including typhoid, tuberculosis, cholera and dysentery.
How to control flies
Scrupulous hygiene and prompt disposal of all refuse will discourage flies. Windows may be fitted with fly screens. Food should be kept covered. Dustbins should be sited away from doors and windows, have tight-fitting lids and be sprayed or dusted inside and beneath with a household insecticide in warm weather.

After years of intermittent rat problems, Nick came in and resolved it in just 3 visits. Whereas previous people just used poison, Nick has a more considered 1-2-3 approach, identifying the entry points, proofing these points, and then dealing very effectively with the rats that didn't leave. We've now moved from despair to hope! Fantastic job and highly recommended

Nick is polite and highly professional. He advised us on a number of solutions to the problem of pigeons nesting under our solar panels. Using humane methods he undertook the work quickly at a very competitive price ensuring ours and our neighbours properties were protected from falling debris. He left the area clean at the end of the job and provided a written warranty guaranteeing the work for 20 years which included an offer to replace or repair any defective parts should the issue arise. I am able to confirm that the work has proved to be an effective deterrent and I would have no hesitation in recommending Nick.

Pigeon proofing put in 11 Aug 2025. Very happy with appearance, install all went smoothly, pigeons been kept out. Would highly recommend. Picked Solar Mesh. Picture taken day or so after install. December 2025 - Odd pigeon pops by now but more likely on a neighbours roof.

Nick was brilliant to deal with. We would absolutely recommend his anti pigeon caging for solar panels.
He was able to time his visit whilst we had scaffold already up. He cleared nesting debris and took a couple of squabs away to rear and release.
The caging around the panels is very well made, cleverly secured and causes no damage. The solar panel guy who was returning with parts a few days after Nick had finished was thoroughly impressed. He said it was the best product he’d seen and was easy for him to remove and replace correctly.

Nick arrived on time as mentioned and completed the task of pigeon proofing my solar panels, as I kept getting them nesting underneath them and making a massive mess and blocking the gutters. Nick was very professional in how he conducted himself, and he talked me through all the pros and cons of different types of pigeon proofing.
I made my choice of what I wanted and also asked if he would/could clean my panels at the same time. We agreed a price, which I was more than happy with as it was cheaper than any other quotes I received. Nick has done a fantastic job putting anti-pigeon wire around our solar panels. This year, for the first time, pigeons had begun nesting under them and the mess was awful.
Our roof was not the easiest to negotiate because of the steep pitch and the nature of the roofing but Nick proved up to the task, conjuring up a clever solution. We were also very impressed that he came back a second time to resolve the issue without the need for scaffolding.
His prices are very competitive so we have no hesitation in giving a five star review.

Nick solved our birds nesting under solar panels problem. With over twenty pigeons under our large array the noise and continual mess became a health issue. Using subtle wire mesh, shaped to fit our roof tiles and brackets around the perimeter the bird proofing is hardly noticeable from the ground and inspite of return visits the pigeons have now moved on.

I had a problem with a bird that had got into my house and luckily it made it's way into a space where I was able to catch and free it. Because I was concerned about future incidents I contacted this company for advice.
Nick was very helpful and called within a couple of days to inspect the property. He found certain spots needed bird-proofing and arranged to do the job within a few days. I am completely happy in all the dealings I had with him and found him to be knowledgeable, friendly, reliable and keen to explain everything to me. Nick identified a rat infestation coming through a damaged sewer. He has an amazing video camera on a wire that found the problem, it gets in everywhere that you cant see and would otherwise be guessing. The rat entry point was blocked, He baited and after 3 weekly visits the problem was solved, no more rats. He installed a steel rat flap in the drain so rats cant access from the public sewers.Very thorough and professional service with a one off fee until problem is solved, no extra charges for further visits. I would highly recommend.

I've used Nick on two occasions to clear 2 separate wasp nets from my property. On both occasions he was able to come round either same day or next day and successfully cleared the nests. On the 2nd occasion he even came back round a few days later to inspect the area and cleared the dead nest for us. Really good service and highly recommended.

I contacted Nick about a wasp nest in my garage roof and he came out same day to fix. He also spotted another nest in the roof and was able to deal with that too. A couple of days later I found yet another wasp nest, this time in my main house roof, and again Nick came out on the same day and sorted that. He is knowledgeable, helpful, and charges fairly. Five star job!

Nick to the rescue! After having a panic about a pest infestation in my home, I sent Nick a message and had a response back extremely quickly! He instantly reassured me and spent most of his morning trying to help me resolve the problem. Upon asking for an inspection, he arrived within a few hours.
He was nothing but professional and friendly when he arrived, and I also absolutely love the fact he is extremely discreet in his presentation - perfect if you don't want the neighbours to know about any pest issues!
Nick did a thorough search of my property including the exterior and took plenty of pictures for evidence and removed the "problem" and advised of next steps to take and follow up of a full report. We contacted Nick after pigeons decided to set up home under our solar panels, Nick was friendly and helpful, answering all our questions very promptly and made return visits for the few pigeons that wouldnt move on of their own accord. I couldn’t recommend this company more. They have gone above and beyond to do everything they can to solve our problem with a rat/rats in our loft. With extra visits free of charge to ensure everything was in place and working we have now been left feeling happy and confident that this will not be able to happen again. Nex Pest Control have been superb with an ongoing pigeon problem, nesting under solar panels... attaching barb wire around the edges of the solar panels, helping to attach a falcon to the roof, and now in the process of ridding the pest through culling. Very professional and reliable, definitely would recommend to anyone seeking help and advice with a similar pest problem.

What can I say ... AMAZING. Nick came out over the Christmas period to help sort our pest problem. He was very reassuring and sorted it immediately. His prices undercut all others we had contacted. Suspected I had Rats in my loft over Christmas. Called Nick who came around a few hours later. He undertook a thorough search outside and found a hole I never knew existed, which he blocked up. A similar inspection took place in my loft. Rat droppings, rat runs and nesting material were found. Bait was then laid. By the second visit, a week later, all noise had ceased. Dead mother and baby rats were located. More bait was laid but intact on the third visit. Rats had all gone.
Without Nick i'd of had real problems up there with those babies. No way could I have done what he did. He always turned up on time, knew his stuff and kept me informed throughout. He is meticulous to detail and left no stone unturned until he got to the bottom of it. A professional workman with a pleasant manner. Very Reasonable costs. I'd recommend him to anyone.
