Professional solar panel bird proofing
- Nex Pest Control only use the safest and most effective ways of excluding birds from under your solar panel array. Due to the health and safety risks associated with pest birds and their guano, as well as the risk of damage to your solar panels, we will always make sure that no birds are left trapped under the panels, will sanitise the area, remove bulk fouling, and remove nesting materials as standard on all jobs.
Installation quality
- As standard, a high quality European grade 1.6mm 16g 25mm x 25mm galvanised steel mesh is installed around the sides of the solar panels to prevent birds and squirrels from gaining access to the areas underneath them. If you require an alternative mesh finish, we can provide the same grade black PVC coated. Due to warranties and guarantees on solar panel installations, we highly recommend using our heavy duty stainless steel multi use solar panel mesh clips. The clips used to affix the mesh to the panel are non-intrusive, hooking under the frame lip on the panel, holding the mesh in place with a retaining nut and washer. The nut, washer and mesh can be easily removed at a later date if you require access for service or maintenance. Where a frame lip is not present we use custom metal fixings which sit between the panels. The metal fittings hold the mesh in place in the same manner as the solar panel mesh clips. If there are ever any issues surrounding the specified method of fixing, we will always advise you prior to using any alternatives. All equipment used by Nex Pest Control is obtained from the leading industry suppliers and is of the best quality available.
Get your solar panels pest proofed right first time
- Nex pest control has many years of experience in offering this service. We are extremely confident in our two mesh choices including the mesh fittings. They have been tried, tested and have been proven to withstand the most persistent of birds and squirrels. Our 1.6mm 16g galvanised mesh is rigid and cannot be pulled, pushed or deformed like the lower grade 1mm meshes available on the market. In recent years squirrels have adapted their nesting behaviour to build dreys underneath solar panels. Due to their strength and ability to gnaw materials, anything less than 1.6mm mesh will not suffice. Nex pest control does not recommend any plastic solar panel proofing alternatives for this reason.

Materials sourced by Nex Pest Control are charged to our customers at cost price. We do not add any mark ups to the stock required to professionally proof your solar panel array. We always quote our best price.
Access and safety
Health and safety is paramount when working at height and where possible we will use our specially designed, HSE approved ladder and roof ladder harness system to safely access your roof and carry out the work quickly and efficiently. We also have a full in-house rope access system available to use but in the event that this is not possible, we will advise you on the best access options to implement such as scaffolding or mobile elevated work platforms.

Competiton
There are many different tradesmen and pest control companies offering this service. The price, quality and installation standard vary greatly between them. Roofers, chimney sweeps and window cleaners are offering this service at a low cost. The examples that we have seen have fallen short of being effective. We have seen and replaced failed installations where pigeon spikes and hedgehog gutter brushes have been used in an attempt to exclude pigeons. More alarmingly we have seen self tapping roof screws being used where frame lips are not present on the array. Using self tapping roof screws to hold mesh in place is classed as a modification and will instantly void the manufacturer’s 25 year warranty. We have also observed mesh being held to arrays using cable ties. The lifespan of a standard nylon cable tie outdoors is 1-2 years.
These type of trademen under estimated the capabilities of the pest species in question. They do not hold the relevant pest knowledge and they are not certified within the pest control industry. In most cases no guarantee is included with their service.

If you ha e solar panels, and have a problem with pigeons, this is the company to use.
The price was great, they arrived on the day and time that was agreed. Cleared all of the pigeons nests, and installed high quality mesh all the way around the panels.
They cleared up all of the mess from the nests so we'll, that you wouldn't have known there was there.
Absolutely perfect service, this really is the best company you could possibly use.

Nick has done a fantastic job putting anti-pigeon wire around our solar panels. This year, for the first time, pigeons had begun nesting under them and the mess was awful.
Our roof was not the easiest to negotiate because of the steep pitch and the nature of the roofing but Nick proved up to the task, conjuring up a clever solution. We were also very impressed that he came back a second time to resolve the issue without the need for scaffolding.
His prices are very competitive so we have no hesitation in giving a five star review.

I had a problem with a bird that had got into my house and luckily it made it's way into a space where I was able to catch and free it. Because I was concerned about future incidents I contacted this company for advice.
Nick was very helpful and called within a couple of days to inspect the property. He found certain spots needed bird-proofing and arranged to do the job within a few days. I am completely happy in all the dealings I had with him and found him to be knowledgeable, friendly, reliable and keen to explain everything to me. Nick identified a rat infestation coming through a damaged sewer. He has an amazing video camera on a wire that found the problem, it gets in everywhere that you cant see and would otherwise be guessing. The rat entry point was blocked, He baited and after 3 weekly visits the problem was solved, no more rats. He installed a steel rat flap in the drain so rats cant access from the public sewers.Very thorough and professional service with a one off fee until problem is solved, no extra charges for further visits. I would highly recommend.

I've used Nick on two occasions to clear 2 separate wasp nets from my property. On both occasions he was able to come round either same day or next day and successfully cleared the nests. On the 2nd occasion he even came back round a few days later to inspect the area and cleared the dead nest for us. Really good service and highly recommended.

I contacted Nick about a wasp nest in my garage roof and he came out same day to fix. He also spotted another nest in the roof and was able to deal with that too. A couple of days later I found yet another wasp nest, this time in my main house roof, and again Nick came out on the same day and sorted that. He is knowledgeable, helpful, and charges fairly. Five star job!

Nick to the rescue! After having a panic about a pest infestation in my home, I sent Nick a message and had a response back extremely quickly! He instantly reassured me and spent most of his morning trying to help me resolve the problem. Upon asking for an inspection, he arrived within a few hours.
He was nothing but professional and friendly when he arrived, and I also absolutely love the fact he is extremely discreet in his presentation - perfect if you don't want the neighbours to know about any pest issues!
Nick did a thorough search of my property including the exterior and took plenty of pictures for evidence and removed the "problem" and advised of next steps to take and follow up of a full report. I would deffinately reccomend to anyone needing pest control. You just cant beat the quality of a good independent business. Thanks again Nick!

I couldn’t recommend this company more. They have gone above and beyond to do everything they can to solve our problem with a rat/rats in our loft. With extra visits free of charge to ensure everything was in place and working we have now been left feeling happy and confident that this will not be able to happen again. Nex Pest Control have been superb with an ongoing pigeon problem, nesting under solar panels... attaching barb wire around the edges of the solar panels, helping to attach a falcon to the roof, and now in the process of ridding the pest through culling. Very professional and reliable, definitely would recommend to anyone seeking help and advice with a similar pest problem.

What can I say ... AMAZING. Nick came out over the Christmas period to help sort our pest problem. He was very reassuring and sorted it immediately. His prices undercut all others we had contacted. Nick took on extra work when we realised the problem was bigger than we originally thought and explained everything to us. He was also on hand to ask questions and I know will be there in the future. Suspected I had Rats in my loft over Christmas. Called Nick who came around a few hours later. He undertook a thorough search outside and found a hole I never knew existed, which he blocked up. A similar inspection took place in my loft. Rat droppings, rat runs and nesting material were found. Bait was then laid. By the second visit, a week later, all noise had ceased. Dead mother and baby rats were located. More bait was laid but intact on the third visit. Rats had all gone.
Without Nick i'd of had real problems up there with those babies. No way could I have done what he did. He always turned up on time, knew his stuff and kept me informed throughout. He is meticulous to detail and left no stone unturned until he got to the bottom of it. A professional workman with a pleasant manner. Very Reasonable costs. I'd recommend him to anyone.
